HOW DOES IT WORK?

THE CROWDFUNDING PLATFORM THAT'S DEDICATED TO MARINE BASED ACTIVITIES AND THE AQUATIC ECOSYSTEM

Crowdfunding platforms bring project initiators who need to raise funds in contact with potential donors.

ekosea.com 's speciality is that our projects are exclusively dedicated to marine life & ecology.

A REWARDS-BASED DONATION

When donors participate in financing a project or venture, they alone choose how much they give. In exchange for their donation, an incentive will be sent to them. The project initiator decides on the type of incentive and its value.

DONATION DEADLINES

Every project initiator decides on his/her donation deadline. He/she must obtain the full amount, or more, within the allotted time to be able to access the money. The average deadline is 45 days but project initiators have the possibility to extend it to 90 days.

EKOSEA'S RIGOROUS SELECTION PROCEDURE

Every project is put through Ekosea's rigorous selection procedure before publication. Our main criteria depend on how viable the project is, its potential interest and its presentation, we also take its incentives into consideration. But in the end, it's the community that makes the final selection when it decides whether to finance it - or not.

OUR BUSINESS MODEL

Registration with EKOSEA is free for donors and project initiators. Nor will you be charged when the project is published on the website. When a project reaches or exceeds its objective, the funds will be released to the project initiator, minus the 8% (excl. of VAT) which covers EKOSEA's commission and bank charges. If the project doesn't reach its objective, the donors get their money back in full.

MORAL OBLIGATION

All project initiators have a moral obligation toward their donors. For every donation they receive, they're morally obliged to send back an incentive in return, which could take months. The relationship between the project initiators and their donors is based on trust. The project initiators know that they're engaging their reputation when they supply incentives.

IT'S ALL ABOUT SHARING!

Crowfounding is all about sharing. Each project initiator must share the project among family, friends and colleagues first to get as many people interested as possible. We encourage donors to do the same and share the information about the projects they support, by all available means. Successful projects that raise money often still come about thanks to 'word of mouth' and social media.
